Scott Valley Swimming & Tennis Club first opened its doors in 1972, adding the six-lane swimming pool in 1974. The Club’s pool is over 30 years old and requires significant repair. The pool area must be closed for a period of approximately six months in order to replace all the decking, pipes and filtration systems, leaving only the shell of the pool intact. In September of 2008, members approved a capital improvement project for this work and additional enhancements to the facility. The project scope includes:

  • Pool and Equipment Renovation
  • Deck Replacement
  • Driveway and Parking Lots Repaving
  • Expansion of Fitness Center (Space will double from 458 to 954 sq. ft.)
  • Construction of Multi-Purpose Café / Food Service Facility
  • Expansion of Pool Deck (The current deck is 7,888 sq ft.  The deck widening next to the hill offsets the loss of deck space from the new structure, so that we gain space. The new pool deck will have 7,920 sq ft.)
  • Redevelopment of Poolside Picnic Area (1,200 sq. ft.)
  • Tennis Shade Structures
  • Tennis Court Repairs
  • Club House Upgrades

Construction costs will be approximately $2,850,000. The Club's intent is to fulfill the entire scope of improvements as defined above and provide the membership with the best solutions that bring value within the budget authority approved by the membership.

Membership financial participation includes:

  • $35.00 increase to monthly dues, effective March 1, 2010.
  • A member assessment of $2,500 with three payment options.
    • $2,500 billed September 1, 2009
    • $1,270 billed September 1, 2009 & December 1, 2009
    • $425 billed for 6 months starting September 1, 2009
  • Members are responsible for regular monthly dues during construction.

The project will mean a disruption in some activities and programs, but the Club intends to secure continued access to lap swimming facilities for our members.  Some of the cardio fitness equipment will be moved to the upper clubhouse. The tennis courts will remain available throughout construction, and court repairs will be staggered to ensure that some courts are always open. Aquatics Director Paul Stasiowski will communicate directly to the swim team regarding options for the 2009-2010 winter swim clinics.

The Club has received all approvals and permits to begin construction on Monday August 31, 2009.

All members are invited to pose any questions with the Club’s General Manager, Patsy Love (383-3483 or patsy@svstc.com).

Come see the floor plans and renderings on display in the front lobby. It is an exciting time for Scott Valley as we continue improving the Club’s programs and services, and soon, the facilities.
